Four oval tourmaline cabochons, held in a globe of 18-karat brushed yellow gold — one facing forward, one behind, one to each side, the stone always present whichever way the pendant turns. And it does turn. The centrepiece spins freely on its pin, so the chain sets it in motion and the tourmalines move through the light, one giving way to the next. A small gold bobble anchors the base. A looped bail carries it on the chain.

There is something ancient about this form — a reliquary, almost, or a compass — and something entirely playful. It cannot be still. It does not want to be.
